Yankees sign Randy Flores to minor league deal

Via Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees have signed lefty reliever Randy Flores to a minor league contract. Joel Sherman says he has an opt-out clause that kicks in sometime before the All-Star break, which is to be expected. I wrote about him just yesterday, noting that he doesn’t have the greatest of numbers against left-handed batters in his career, but all he needs to do is be better than Andy Sisco. The conclusion: “If he does [sign with the Yankees], great, if not then no big deal. He probably won’t pitch all that well anyway.” Nothing wrong with Triple-A depth.

FINALLY THE SHAKEUP WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!

Cashman and Girardi are totally off the hook. We all retract all the nasty things we’ve been saying about you.

A 30-game winning streak starts tonight. Book it.

Sounds more like “wrong site” than “wrong post”.

(But I am curious to see where you actually intended this to go. This will probably end badly.)

          who cares?

    line-up shake-up!

less than 10 games into the season, tito francona dropped crawford to the no. 8 spot. the 142-million dollar prize, a successful hitter histriocally – down to no. 8! (strangely enough, he didn’t ask out of the game…)
sadly, tito has guts and a commitment to winning that is lacking in the yankees organization, which has adopted the philosophy of “everything will work itself out, just because”.
deciding a line-up based on past success, clout and honor is a joke. girardi doesn’t even have the guts to try. cashman seems to be more than happy to play bad cop, but i don’t sense any fire coming from the bench.
what killed the yanks in the later torre years and 2008 is repeated – lac of accountability.

      Off-topic?

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

        And poorly reasoned?

        • http://twitter.com/steveh_MandAura Steve H

          And no shift key?

At least he used paragraphs (ignoring the fact that every sentence is, in fact, its own paragraph).

  • Rob Thomsen’s Chili Farts

Are Jeter and Posada ok with this?

    • Rookie

A very important question, Rob. A very important question.

  • Rob Thomsen’s Chili Farts

I hope CC doesn’t ask out of his next start!

  • Billy Mumphrey

This won’t help at all. What Cashman needs to do is give Girardi an ultimatum- Win or you’re fired.

    • Clay Bellinger

      Yeah OK George.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

      Haha.

      • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

Billy Mumphrey never lets you down. You always know what take he’s going to have, and that’s nice in these inconsistent times we live in.

    • Ted Nelson

I’m pretty sure that is implied… If the Yankees do not win over a sustained period, Girardi will be fired. If they go on a 6 game losing streak in May and are 3 games behind the Rays and even with the Red Sox… not so much.

  • LockDown

Who cares if he can pitch, can he hit? :/

    • Rob Thomsen’s Chili Farts

I just want someone on the team who isn’t a piece of human shit.

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Unless you know then personally, you probably shouldn’t refer to anyone as a piece of shit.

  • Rookie

If there’s anything in his stats that should provide us with any reason to believe he’s likely to contribute anything, I can’t find it.
