Yankees send David Adams down, will activate Jayson Nix

The Yankees have sent David Adams down to Triple-A Scranton and will activate Jayson Nix off the 15-day DL in time for Tuesday’s series opener against the Dodgers. Nix went 1-for-12 during his four-game minor league rehab assignment. Despite Brent Lillibridge‘s strong glovework and timely hits, I assume Nix will step right back into the lineup on a most of the time basis at the hot corner.

Nix is better than Adams but still awful. Here’s the lineup we need-

I like that lineup. We can definitely play with the big boys with that lineup.

I am done with ARod, he has been a disappointment a distraction just like Giambi was. Good line-up but for now:
      Gardner CF
      Jeter SS
      Cano 2B
      Soriano DH
      Granderson LF
      Ichiro RF
      Overbay 1B
      Nix 3B
      Stewart C

A difference which makes no difference is no difference

I would have sent down lillibridge instead but understand the move.

adams just needs to hit.. he can paly 1b, 2b, and 3b so we should be seeing him later this year and he has a chance of sticking next. needs to hit more of course but he has a chance…

I would have sent down Nunez. At least Adams and Lillibridge provide some versatility by playing being able to fill in with quality defense at multiple positions. Nunez can’t even play one position at a decent level of defense. We shouldn’t waste a roster spot on a guy who sucks defensively, has no power and doesn’t draw walks. All of the Nunez fans need to get with reality and realize that he a scrub.

Not sure if that assessment is fair to Nuñez .. Hitting better and fielding much better than last year. Adams is not a better player than Nuñez as he brings a good bat and great speed.

I’lll go further: sending Adams down while retaining Lillibridge is idiotic. Lilli is just a terrible baseball player, a guy who’s hit shitty at even AA/AAA, and the stats don’t show him to be some defensive whiz. Adams still has a chance to be a real hitter, and the may need an everyday 3B with ARod uncertain to return; he has zero left to prove/learn at AAA; and toward the 2014 salary goal, it sure would be nice to see whether a near-minimum guy like Adams actually can play. I really think Girardi is a good manager but develops weird crushes on guys like Stewart and Lilli.

my prediction is arod does not see the field this year..

the hammer can come down any day on the suspension. I guess he fights it but he will miss a ton of time next season they need to prepare for it, big time…

Nix is not an upgrade what so ever,They give updates on this guy like he’s an All-Star.Lillibridge will probably be a better option down the road he’s far more versatile and he plays better defense than Nix even though they’re both crap with the bat.Lillibridge probably has more pop in his bat though.
