Adam Warren will start on Wednesday

Game 125: Game Two
Clarkin makes pro debut in GCL Yanks win

Adam Warren will start Wednesday night’s game, Joe Girardi announced. The Yankees will need to use a spot starter at some point in these next four days because of the doubleheader, so they’ll get it out of the way tomorrow. Andy Pettitte will pitch Thursday, pushing Hiroki Kuroda back to Friday’s series opener against the Rays.

REALLY a good thing they swept this doubleheader then. Yikes, this series could have been brutal.

  • Richard Leo

Huge spot start for Warren and Yankees

  • Dela G

    Good luck to him

  • Eddard

Makes sense. All games are important but HTH games directly with teams ahead of you are crucial. Hiroki should be pitching in the Rays series.

i didn’t get to watch much of either gsme because of work, unfortunately. but didn’t warren get into one of these games? is he still going to make the spot start?

  • PJ

I don’t get why they need to spot start when they had MONDAY off? Everything should have worked itself out… Right?

    • Need Pitching & Hitting (but mostly hitting)

Starting with the double header, they will have 6 games in 5 days. Either Hughes or Nova would have to pitch on short rest on Saturday, or they’d need an extra starter.

Bullpen will be on full alert this eve.

Excellent move by Girardi. This gives the normal starters a rest and allows our best three pitchers to start in the huge weekend series against the Rays: Kuroda, CC, and Nova
