- The Yankees were out on the West Coast to start the week. The offense was lifeless both Monday (4-1 loss) and Tuesday (2-1 loss) before they were able to squeak out a 3-1 win on Wednesday.
- Following Thursday’s off-day, the Yankees opened a three-game weekend set with the Rays and won the opener 7-5 thanks to Brian McCann’s walk-off homer. They won 3-2 on a walk-off error the next day but were smushed 8-1 in yesterday’s finale.
- Injury Updates: Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) is playing in minor league rehab games but there is no target date for his return. Andrew Miller (forearm) will pitch in a minor league rehab game today. Carlos Beltran (oblique) was placed on the 15-day DL. Eric Jagielo (knee) does not need surgery for loose bodies. Ian Clarkin has not had Tommy John surgery but Austin DeCarr has.
- As expected, Adam Warren has been moved to the bullpen. Gregorio Petit, Ramon Flores, Taylor Dugas, and Esmil Rogers were part of the roster revolving door last week. The Yankees acquired outfielders Jake Skole and Rico Noel for minor league depth.
- Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees settled their 660th home run milestone dispute with a donation to charity. The team also donated $150,000 to charity to get Alex’s 3,000th hit ball back.
- First rounder James Kaprielian is expected to sign for a bonus in the $3M range. The Yankees signed 20th rounder Isiah Gilliam to an overslot $550,000 bonus.
- The Yankees are among the teams keeping tabs on Jeff Samardzija leading up to the trade deadline. Apparently they’re eying Clay Buchholz as well.
- No Yankees were voted in as starters for the All-Star Game.
