BA’s Top 20 Florida State League Prospects

Joba to go wire to wire as a starter?
Pettitte, on the fence, thinks Moose might call it quits

Baseball America‘s look into each league’s top 20 prospects continued today with the FSL. Tigers’ uberstud Rick Porcello predictably topped the list, and the only Yankees’ farmhand to make the cut was Zach McAllister at #20. High-A Tampa a prospect wasteland for most of the year, so it’s no surprise the list is short on Yanks’ prospects.

The Eastern League comes out tomorrow, however the list was already leaked. Austin Jackson comes it at #10 if the list is correct. We’ll find out tomorrow.

I don’t really complain with the rsnkings at all except I would Bump Jackson over Bard. Daniel freaking Bard? Come on.

I can’t believe a RELIEVER is getting rated over a true centerfield prospect.

In that case, Mark Melancon better be near the top of the AAA prospect list.

Mike, those Eastern League rankings are obviously BS. Michael Bowden at #15? Please, he is obviously so much better than anyone in that league that he deserves a numerical value unknown to the human race, outside of Peter Gammons.

Rankings like this while fun and interesting are basically full of it BS.

It is why if you go back and check over these lists over the years you will see a lot of failures.

If these guys knew anything they’d be working for a team.

If anybody working for a baseball team knew what would happen in the future then there would be no point of holding the draft past the sixth or seventh round. They make rankings based on scouting reports and performance, I don’t see how you can penalize them for their opinions when such opinions are well informed.

You have to excuse him, he’s not quite all there.

This rankings list was done by John Manuel, so it’s surprising that he ranked Bard ahead of Jackson.

By the way, this list is absolutely correct, because in Ask BA, Pablo Sandoval had his scouting report posted, and he was at #19.
