Canali’s dapper new spokesman
By
We knew Mariano Rivera has always looked pretty good in pinstripes, but now he’s taking it to a new level. From Women’s Wear Daily (via the subscription-only Sports Business Daily), we learn that Rivera will don a stylin’ pinstripe suit for Canali’s spring advertisements. The Yanks’ closer will be hawking the Italian men’s wear company in newspaper and magazines this spring and may do some in-store events as well. “He is a very positive person, with a great attitude and style,” Elisabetta Canali, the company’s global communications director, said. “He represents excellence in his field and it comes natural for us to look at him as an ambassador of those values we both share.”
Clearly, Mo, looking sharp in the suit, is gearing up for his career after baseball: male model.

Hammer of God, don’t hurt ‘em.
While I got it dead wrong about Damon being articulate and all — I bag the post game interviews, since with a demanding job and a young family that’s not on the menu – that’s what I was aiming at.
Damon could have tried to get a darn’d gig doing endorsements. He’s got good looks, charisma.
That supplements the income.
So yes, stupid — to your point, can’t string a sentence together apparently — and greedy. He could have tried to make some money on the side in New York.
You really couldn’t wait 30 minutes to post this in the open thread?
Apparently not
What Drew said.
Career after baseball…are you implying he’ll retire???
I keep saying this: no. After closing, Mo moves to CF or SS and has another 20 year, HOF type career.
I’m nearly 65% serious about this one… in a few years the Yanks should seriously consider letting Mo start his season in July, or even later, whatever the post-season roster deadline is.
I’m on board with that… assuming he shows signs of letting the full season get to him.
Guess he’s ready to take a paycut from the Yankees.
What an absolute stud.
Pin Striped suit, how fitting.
I find myself just staring at Mo and trying to comprehend how lucky we are.
I can’t wait for him to drop Magnum on us.
I can’t wait for him to debut the changeup.
Apparently he hasn’t tamed the beast yet…

As we used to say way back when;”it’s the clothes that make the man”. As always Mo’s, impeccable.
Mo is preparing for his inevitable epic decline next year. He knows it’s going to happen because PECOTA said so, so he’s making sure he has a non-baseball income. It’s the beginning of the end.*

Awesome suit.
I am trying to resist these urges to buy that suit
Wow. Has the recession become so bad that even God is forced to get a job?
I’m buying one.
Step One: Buy fantastic Italian suit like Mo.
Step Two: ????
Step Three: Get a job
step 4: pussytubing
If only every sports player would follow Mo’s lead.
Would be a fine looking bunch
Mariano Rivera, making Sinatra look like a hobo for 16 years and counting.
Seriously though, even though i know Mo’s contributions to how many games the yankees win each year are, while good, relatively unspectacular (though the fact that he’s consistently one of the most valuable relievers in the game year after year for as long as he has been is crazy), his contributions to the yanks being super-awesome badasses who are inherently better human specimens than all players from other teams are astronomical. His career AAR (awesomeness above replacement) is literally infinity.
btw how did we get a zoolander reference before the first anchorman one? I mean, not knocking zoolander, but this is RAB…
He’s kinda got the crazy-eyes going on, but it’s Mo so it’s okay. LOVE the pinstripes.
Daaaamn, son, lookin’ GOOD.
Ben..actually Mo’s wearing a sportcoat and slacks!
correct. Not a suit. A solid shirt would look even better.
I am not gay
