Cashman: Sabathia will start Game Three on Monday
ByVia Ken Rosenthal, Brian Cashman said that CC Sabathia will start Game Three of the ALDS on Monday night. The team has ruled him out for Game Two tomorrow after he threw 27 pitches in the game and 48 pitches in warm-ups before the rain last night. Justin Verlander will start Monday for the Tigers, meaning each team will only get one full start from their ace. For shame.

Good news for the Yanks, right? Verlander is a true ace. CC is not. Good deal.
I really don’t like that you use a lovable children’s song as your handle while trolling on this cite.
It’s…incongruous.
Yeaaahhh…. no.
Not sure if serious…
I see this site now lists comments from dumbest to smartest.
There’s precedent for this situation, right? Surely a playoff game has been rained out before.
Yeah and it didn’t turn out well for us.
Two days’ rest sounds right. CC will likely be just right Monday night!

now hypothetically what if tonight gets rained out? are we looking at sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday? W
It’s not like they can’t use Sabathia out of the pen on game 5 IF it gets to that point.
As much as this sucks, the Yanks only have to face Verlander once, too. Fister, while good, does not scare me. I’m feeling optimistic!
The forecast shows 40-50% chance of rain throughout the night. Much worse of an outlook than last night…

What it turn into 65 degrees and clear skies right after they pre-emptively postpone the game.
Much worse of an outlook than last night.
That can’t be possible. Based on the comments on the game thread about how stupid MLB was, the forecast for last night would have made Noah complain about too much rain.
If we lose Game 1 I fully expect CC to start game 2. There’s no other option. Yes, Scherzer in NY is a big advantage for us but who knows what Freddy will give us. Then you have Verlander in Game 3 and Burnett in Game 4 so if game 1 is lost then CC must start game 2.

Hoping a rain-out bites the Tigers in the ass this time around…
Anyone know how many pitches Verlander threw in warm-ups?
I kind of think the rain out is an advantage for the Yanks. It all comes down to Nova though.
Interestingly enough, if the Yankees win in 3 games, Sabathia will be credited with two starts, and Nova none!
This plays to the Red Sox clear superiority in this postseason.

The Red Sox still have a shot at the Wild Card! They’re better than the 1927 Yankees and the 1998 Yankees – COMBINED.
They should play now.
too bad the weather screwed things up for both teams.
can’t believe there were not any red flags about the weather last night.
this changes things for both teams for the worse. 1st round should be best of 7, play 162 for this.. terrible…….
How many pitches does someone throw on their throw day? Seems like CC could treat Friday as a throw day and be ready to go on Sunday. The guy is a horse, and it would be great to have him still able to go twice.
Great job with the playoff coverage.
