Report: Astros, Orioles have interest in Maxwell

By

Via George King, both the Astros and Orioles have interest in Justin Maxwell. They have yet to call Brian Cashman about the right-handed hitting outfielder, however. Maxwell is out of options and can’t be sent to the minors without first clearing waivers, so the Yankees will have to decide what to do with him relatively soon. With Curtis Granderson (elbow) and Nick Swisher (knee) banged up, I’m sure they’re going to hold onto him for just a little bit longer.

We could ask for a D-level prospect, but that guy is probably the best guy in the Astros system.

  2. UYF1950 says:

My guess is that if/when the Yankees do trade Maxwell and they have the option of either Houston or Baltimore. Houston wins hands down, Showalter is not someone I think Cashman has any interest in helping out with their roster.

Anyone catch the ESPN’s announcer’s discussion of Pineda during the 6th inning?

I guess he should just pack it up and call it a career.

    maxwell for matusz, BINGO

  5. STONE COLD Austin Romine says:

    I couldn’t stand Chris Britton.

But getting Jaret Wright off the team (at the time) was the main objective in the last trade the Yankees made with the O’s.

    • jsbrendog says:

well, in britton’s defense we did get the scranton shuttle joke out of him and his name so there’s that.

  6. fin says:

Maxwell, Cirvelli, Dickerson, Laird for Wieters. If we have to we can throw in Pena also.

  7. RetroRob says:

Maxwell for $17 million and Carlos Lee.

  8. jack knife says:

hey fin in that trade throw in Romanski so he can get to another team

  9. CJ says:

Wouldn’t be surprised if mark Reynolds ends up on Yankees. Just the fact that Baltimore is discussing a lesser player with yanks opens the trade embargo between those two.

    • Robinson Tilapia says:

I could only imagine what the game threads would look like if Mark Reynolds were to be a Yankee. For the love of God, no.

      • CJ says:

I’m not a fan but he’s being shopped, affordable without a lengthy contract, has big power, can play 3B and the Yankees don’t have a DH. Dontrelle Willis can come in as a DH/LOOGY at this point.
