Fan Confidence Poll: February 27th, 2012
BySpring Training Schedule This Week: vs. University of South Florida (Fri.), @ Phillies (Sat. on MLBN), vs. Phillies (Sun. on YES/MLBN)
Top stories from last week:
- The Yankees filled out the roster this week, re-signing Eric Chavez to a one-year, $900k deal. They also added a midseason bullpen option by signing David Aardsma for one year and $500k. The Raul Ibanez signed became official as well. The Yankees maintain interest in various left-handers, just not Damaso Marte or Scott Kazmir.
- Mariano Rivera told reporters that he knows what he’ll do after the season, hinting at retirement. He’s not going to tell anyone his plans however.
- Injury News: Joba Chamberlain threw his final half-mound session and will get up on a full mound for the first time as part of his Tommy John surgery rehab on Tuesday. Austin Romine will miss a few days after an MRI revealed inflammation in his back. George Kontos tweaked his oblique and has been on the shelf the last few days. Tim Norton is reportedly throwing bullpen sessions.
- The Yankees and Russell Martin reportedly discussed a three-year contract earlier this offseason, then rekindled talks this week. Brian Cashman has since confirmed that there will be no more talks until after the season.
- Chris Dickerson cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A, so he is still with the organization but is no longer on the 40-man roster. The Yankees signed Robinson Cano‘s cousin, Burt Reynolds.
- Manny Banuelos, Dellin Betances, Gary Sanchez, and Mason Williams all made Baseball America’s Top 100 Prospects List. The Yankees will have $4,192,200 to spend on the first ten rounds of the draft.
- Lou Piniella officially joined the YES Network as a special contributor.
- RAB turned five.
Please take a second to answer the poll below and give us an idea of how confident you are in the team. You can view the interactive Fan Confidence Graph anytime via the nav bar above, or by clicking here. Thanks in advance for voting.
Given the team's current roster construction, farm system, management, etc., how confident are you in the Yankees' overall future?

A game!!!
I would have been an 8 but RABs birthday put me over the top to a 9.
Can’t wait for games now!
Anxiously awaiting the season at a 9. Probably should be a 10 because:
1) It’s still prior to ST games, so no one can beat them right now.
2) No major injuries to the starters
3) RAB is 5 years old!!!
“Tim Norton is reportedly throwing bullpen sessions.”
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!
Alan Horne and Chris Garcia got out of bed this morning and did not feel a twinge anywhere. Must be a full moon.
what’s next, joel zumaya staying healthy?!
poor guy
I’m convinced he’s going to wake up one day, and his arm will not be there.
I hope a guy like Aroldis Chapman is taking notes.
eesh, I honestly feel awful for that man. I really hope he doesnt try to come back. Fan Graphs has a list of his injuries/surgeries, and damn that guy is a hard man to have even made it back to this injury.
Hope Norton has better luck than Joel Zumaya. Poor guy. Gotta feel for guys like that who work so hard to come back from injury and then get hurt again right away. Frustrating
Baseball has a pulse!
This is the stretch run of the offseason guys. A few more days, and it’s over! Never been more excited!
Up to a 9. Hope springs eternal. Our rotation looks to be the best in years, our bullpen may be the best in the majors, our offense is killer and our defense is good. What’s not to like?
Still a 9. Thank God this was the last week without actual baseball to watch for a long while. Should have even voted a 10 just for that reason.
Really how can it not be 9? Stacked offense, stacked rotation, stacked bullpen. If its not a 9, it will never be. Its really a 10 but that is bad luck.
The only number without a vote is a “3″ so far, so apparently there are some in the imaginary front office that disagree.
LOL. Have to figure those below an 8 arent really Yankee fans. If you are a Yankee fan and dont like this team, and whats in Milb, then you are at best a weird a fuckin dude.
The “weird fuckin dude” factor in the comment section of any blog is always bound to be high.
i want nothing more than to see michale pineda pitch
The worst part is, you know he’s getting on the mound for about 2 innings the first time, and it’s going to feel like a tease.
Really looking forward to that. Can’t wait to see what the kid’s got. Hoping to see him develop into a #1 or #2-type pitcher while wearing Yankee Pinstripes!
Solid 9.
Don’t love Ibanez as lefty DH or Chavez as backup 3rd/1st basemen but both could be upgraded during the season if need be without too much difficulty
We really do have it rough, when our big worries are a platoon Dh and a shitty bench player that will get all of 100 abs. Its good to be a Yankee fan :}
Very true.
Take a look at Adam Rubin’s Mets chat on ESPN sometime for some perspective. Their big hope is that everything will fall in their favor and they’ll only lose 90 games instead of 100.
I found myself kind of wishing this morning that Hiroyuki Nakajima signed with us. Hard to expect Chavez to be healthy, so we would have just had Nakajima, and how fun would it have been to root for that name? John Sterling would’ve had a field day.
straight 10. rab turning 5 is a 2 point bump, kind of like red hair or an french accent on a female.
kind of like red hair or an french accent on a female.
Oh yes, very much that!!
In this world there is nothing better than a red head or a french accent…You sir, are the man.
Sticking with brunettes but I get your gist.
this is purely my preference. please choose whichever variations work for you. brunettes are right behind the reds in my book.
Redheads are pretty much pure evil.
I’m not sure hair color has anything do with it.
I think it’s the extra X chromosome.
evil in the sack! zing zang zoom!
That’s been my experience, but this is a family show, so we can’t get into that too deeply here.
South Park tells us that they have no souls. I believe in Cartman.
“Red hair and black leather, my favorite color scheme.”
The Del McCoury Band
I went with 9 again. I really like how this team is put together. We won the division with both A-Rod and Tex having “off” years. If both stay healthy, the rest of the offense have similar years, and the pitching lives up to it billing, #29 is certainly within reach.
Plus, the farm system is getting high marks all around MLB. This Campos kid appears to be the real deal. Let’s see what Man-Ban, Betances, Sanchez, Williams, etc. do this year as well. Things are pretty exciting throughout the organization.
I’m a 9 and as confident as I’ve been in at least a decade. One watch out is the elite competition seems better than ever.
How about French red heads

Hopefully the left side of pour infield will have similar regressions
I don’t think i’ll ever open another link or that you should provide one. From a safety (virus) standpoint, I Thank you.

It’s a press clipping from the Daily News.
A fat 9.
I was down to a 8 prior to Kuroda & Pineda transactions. I likie the Montero promise of a big bat however a veteran platoon might be equal/better for the short term.
They went from a #1,a #3, 5-#5′s, SP-wise to #1, 2-#2′s, #3 and 4-#5′s while losing a solid-dominate DH.
err, scratch the “likie” and use “liked”

Off topic, but is anyone cooler than Robert Griffith? I take him over Andrew Luck any day of the week, just on coolness.
First, just because you announce that it’s off-topic doesn’t make it okay. There’s an off-topic thread specifically for that.
Second, if you’re going to blatantly disregard the rules anyway, it would be nice to get the dude’s name right; it’s Griffin, not Griffith.
Oh I dunno. He may have gotten the name right.

Not sure he’d draft that dude over luck, though.
Another week, another 9.
I have to teams that I am absolutely fanatical about: NYY & SU hoops.
Life is good right about now!
*two teams
Any recent word on the status of Jorge Soler??? Signing him to a reasonable contract might move my rating up to a 10.
